Hi,
Got home today and was excited to see that my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro sitting on my coffee table!
Wahoo!
I installed the new card using the Catalyst Radeon 3.5 version of the drivers. Everything went smoothly up until I loaded Eve.
The normal nice picture appears, a second bar appears in the taskbar as normal, but the "Accept or Decline" screen does not appear. Instead, all I see is a black square for 5 seconds before the window disappears.
Can anyone help?

Gonna try those.

3.8 drivers don't work either.

I've read elsewhere on the forums that the 2.5 version of the drivers is stable but I can't get them to install
I don't want to run in Win98/Me compatability mode either.

Tried those, j0, but I don't have/can't find the following options you mentioned:
* smoothvision: disabled (slider all way to left and 'application preference' checked)
* support w-buffer: enabled * support 32-bit z-buffer: enabled * alpha: error diffusion
I'm using the latest Catalysts (3.8) and the associated Control Panel.
I can log on using compatability mode (win98) but I don't trust it sufficiently enough to bother undocking.

No anti-aliasing will be ok with 16X anist?
I'll try deleting the cache but I'm not sure what effect that would have?

j0, you're so helpful
I'll try re-installing DirectX first and then mess around with the settings.

Turning anti-alias off worked once and then never worked again.
I've had to force Eve to run as Win98 compat.

Quote: Joshua if you've upgraded Internet Explorer with the Cumulative Patch 828750 try uninstalling via Add/Remove. I have the same problem that you're describing and I've narrowed it down to this.
I don't have that patch in my Add/Remove options, Rath

WinXP VIA-chipset Used Nasty File Remover to clean out all other graphics drivers.
I have the latest Hyperion drivers and WinXP is fully up to date.

I can run Eve for hours and hours on this new card without a problem but I have to use Win98 compatability.
I'm unsure if I'm getting the best performance out of my card though.

I've fully re-installed, cleaned my system completely...everything
It runs but does running in Win98 compatability affect any graphics features/performance?

Every other game works amazingly well.
Splinter Cell is just gorgeous.

Quote: Josh, I had the same problem for a month and couldn't figure it out.
I removed the splash screen and EULA from loading which left only the login screen to load which told me it had to do with Eve connecting to the server. Since Eve startup froze my computer I couldn't troubleshoot any further.
After installation Eve would load my browser and it wouldn't do anything. As I was trying to troubleshoot it after about 5 minutes It finally loaded. I tried starting up Eve and it loaded!!! :)
Something got corrupted later though and I had to reinstall Eve again. I did the same thing I did before and it worked!!! :)
What's the solution then?
